Many ad networks also consider alexa ranking when estimating a site’s capabilities. Not only this but, if you have a good alexa ranking then this will certainly impress your readers. So here are the easy steps I take to increase alexa ranking of my sites.

1. First of all, if you use firefox, you must install a good addon so that you can find your alexa ranking anytime. A good addon can be Search Status that not only tells you the alexa ranking but also the page rank of the site(page). Or else if you use I.E then install alexa toolbar.
2. If you have completed the first step you can set your blog as the home page of your browser.
3. Next, if there is any cyber cafe near, just make the administrator set the homepage of all the computers’ browsers as your blog. Or you could do this in your office. The concept is you have to set your blog as the homepage in as many computers as possible.
4. Increase traffic to your blog. That is what alexa is all about. So anywhere you respond to the articles, like in forums or blogs, just place the URL of any related article from your blog there in the comments. This will you will attract many visitors since your article is related to the article they are already reading. They will surely want to gain some extra knowledge.
5. Show off your alexa ranking on your blog through the alexa rank widget.
6. Through your blog suggest your readers to install the alexa toolbar. Doing this can surely increase your ranking because these readers will come again and again to your site. So if they have alexa toolbar your ranking will only go up.

1) First of all do subscribe to at least two or three big Bloggers like John Chow, or Shoemoney, or Problogger, etc. A good list of blogs that I love to read is here. Why do subscribe to them ? Because they have been blogging for years and their experience can surely lead you to success.

2) If you are a newbie or someone who is in search of some extra exposure to his blog, then you can become a guest author at these big blogs. If you have a great article that you think can be very useful why not get it published on a big blog. This way you will be read by a much larger number of readers(including those who subscribed to that blog). And who knows, if you are able to get some hundred diggs, you can have a chance to appear at the front page.

3) Another advantage of guest posting is that you can include some of your blog’s links that are related to the topic you are writing that article on. This way you can get many contextual and targeted links from a high ranking blog.

4) Commenting on these blogs can also bring a lot of traffic. If you have some content related to that article suggest that link in the comments section. This will not only bring in traffic but also help in increasing your page rank( if that site has dofollow in the comments).

5) Many big bloggers reward their active commentators by including the Top Commetators widget linking to top commentators’ blogs; also the links in this widget are of dofollow nature. So if you are an active commentator on some of those blogs you may get included in that widget. Thus you can get a free flow of traffic and targeted page rank link till you are active in their comments section.

6) Many a times I view HTML source code of the big blogs. Doing this can certainly help you because this way you get to know how that blog has been Search Engine Optimised or what plugins have been used in it and many other things like where the blog has nofollow and where not.

7) The best strategy to succeed online is to build relationships with other bloggers. So why not build relationships with the BIG FISHES. You can also meet them offline to become friends. And then, as your friend, they will do many things for you. And that’s for free.

• Comment on related niche “big blogs” that have a top commentators widget. Why Because if you regularly comment on these blogs you will get included in their Top Commentators widget which is a dofollow backlink. So make a list of some big blogs that are related to your niche and have a Top Commentators widget. Regularly comment on these blogs. Doing this will never remove your link from their page rank >4 blogs. One more thing, this will also create your relationship with that blogger who runs that big blog.
• Link Baiting means creating some product that has your link somewhere in it and then distributing it to others so that the more people use it the more backlinks you get. The most common form of link baiting is to create your own blog templates. What’s the need to create templates? Let me tell you. For example you have created a blogger template. Now include your blog’s link in it. Then distribute it through your own blog or other blog and forums. So now if some people use your template on their blogs, your link will already be on their blogs. This way you can create 100s of links with just 1 day of hardwork. In fact I am soon going to release my templates.
• One more trick that is being used by many Entrecarders now is to sponsor or hold a contest. If you hold a contest on your blog then you can ask your contestants to write about your blog or about that contest. So now your contestants will write about your blog on their blogs with probably at least 2 to 3 links. So you’re getting so many backlinks from so many blogs. Or you can also sponsor the contests being held on other blogs. This way also your link will be shown as sponsor’s link on the articles of the contestants’ blogs.

• Create lots of backlinks for your blog. But How I’ll tell you how.
• Interact in forums of related niche. Leaving your URL as a signature on the forums can definitely increase your page rank.
• Comment on other blogs of similar niche to your blog’s and leave the URL of any article of your blog that is related to the article you are commenting on. Here comes another problem that many blogs have nofollow attribute. So find blogs with dofollow so that your comment counts for your blog.
• An easy way to search for dofollow blogs is to find blogs with “U Comment I Follow” Badge.
• You can also become a guest author at other blogs of same niche having some page rank. So when you articles for that blog you can add your blog’s articles’ links.
• You can also design your own templates of Wordpress and Blogger with your blog’s link at the footer or somewhere. Then distribute these templates to other bloggers. The trick is that if someone with a good page rank uploads your template on his blog it will affect your ranking also since the template already has your link in the footer.
• You can also make links of your blog from your Myspace, ebay, Facebook pages, etc.
• If you have other blogs you can link them with the new blog.
• O.K, doing this much will work. You may get a good page rank for your main page. But what about other pages Just link different posts with each other and that’s it.

Now comes title. Title is that text that appears when someone moves his cursor on the image. This also tells the crawlers what your image is all about.

You just need to insert or edit the image code and change it to something like what you saw above. • First login to your Google Webmaster account and then go to Sitemaps.
• Here select any previous sitemap that you submitted( that is not working properly) and delete it.
• Then click on “Add Sitemap”. Then from the scroll down menu that appears select “Add General Sitemap”.
• Now you will be asked to enter the sitemap URL. So there you enter: http://xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false Note: Don’t forget to enter your blog’s name instead of ‘xxx’
• Then press “Add Sitemap” and you are done.

But still there will be some problems and then I found another solution. This time I tried this:
…/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100
And it worked. Just click the link and you will believe me. All my posts are listed there. And it also worked as my sitemap.
So what you have to do now is:

• Remove all the non-working sitemaps from your webmaster account.
• Then add a general sitemap. The URL should be: http://xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100 Note: Replace xxx with your blog’s name.
• Now you are done. Your 100 posts will be listed in google. But what about more posts? Good Question.
• When you have posts more than 100 say 110 then enter another sitemap URL. This time it should be: http://xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=201&max-results=100
• And when you have more than 200 posts add another sitemap to previous ones. The URL being: http://xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=301&max-results=100
• And so on…(See the start-index value is changing everytime).

I will tell you how to remove nofollow component. First download your template to your computer in case any error occurs.
Now, how can you remove nofollow from comments:

1. Find a line similar to this one in your blog template(Don’t forget to Expand Widget Template) :
   <a expr:href=’data:backlink.url’ rel=’nofollow’><data:backlink.title/></a>
2. In this line remove the rel=’nofollow’ section.

To remove nofollow from backlinks do this:

• Find a line similar to this line in your template:
  <a href=’data:comment.authorUrl’ rel=’nofollow’><data:comment.author/></a>
• In this line also just remove rel=’nofollow’ section.

2) Contextual Links are the best both for external and internal links. These links appear in context of your articles. If someone having a site related to your theme is ready to have link exchange with your site then ask him to ask him to add your links in the context of his articles and you do the same. This will surely increasing your ranking.

Here are some tips to increase chances of your blog being crawled by search engines
1) Make sure your blog’s title, subtitles and pages contain the keyword for blog.

2) Include your keywords in the hyperlinks while linking to your internal pages. For eg. you have a blog about Adsense then instead of a link like “click here to see that” you can use link like “view my article on Adsense tips“. See the link contains the keyword “Adsense”.

3) Search engines really don’t care about how many pages are linking back to you but what they care about is how many “quality backlinks” your page has. Its worthless if the site linking back to yours is not related to your theme.

4) While naming your pages too you could include your keywords. Instead of naming them like page1.htm name them like adsense-tips.htm.

5) Search engines love sites with good and lots of content. So make it contentful.

6) Also do make it easier for your blog to be crawled by search engines. Make sitemaps for your blogs. You can do it on Googe and XML-Sitemaps.

7) When your site has at least 15 pages submit your URL to Google, Yahoo and MSN. Don’t bother about other search engines because many of them are just the portals of these big ones.
