• Try to include an About Me section somewhere on the blog with your photo. This will tell people that there really is someone behind the blog who cares to write for his readers, and that is you my friend.
• Write some pillar articles. These articles will not only increase your authority and traffic but also will remind people why they should return to your blog and how much important information they will get from you. Ultimately you will build your own brand telling people what you write about.
• Try to keep the language you use on your blog just the same as you use in your daily life, be a little casual and remind your readers that you are their friend.
• Make sure navigating through different pages in your site is easy and that your site contains About, Contact, FAQ and similar pages.

I mean, it is not necessary you use costly or very beautiful themes, but what matters is that your site should be user friendly and your readers should remember you.

Who’d have thought Entrecard will one day be listed at Sitepoint for auction. I was shocked to see it myself when I found Entrecard on Sitepoint’s Site Auction page. What would be the reason for Graham Langdon to sell it while Entrecard has following stats:

And if it is a link in between the context of an article that is related to your article it can surely bring a lot of traffic too. So today I will show you some easy tricks that increase backlinks .

1. Creating any type of a valuable resource article where everyone would like to link. An example can be the dofollow blog list, or a list of photoshop tutorials, or a how to article, or a list of beautiful blog templates. Do you get it? You can think of many other articles according to your niche.
2. The Evil Way : Write an article that creates some kind of a controversy, for example, an article that attacks a famous person and creates a news on the web or in the blogosphere.
3. Creating any type of script, or software or application that others would like to talk about and use, for example, creating photoshop icons, wordpress plugins, an entrecard bookmark list, or a short cartoon movie showing Shoemoney and John Chow fighting.
4. Creating blog templates and distributing them for free. This can work, if you put your blog’s link in the footer of the templates. So the more your template is downloaded and used on other blogs, the more links you get. This is also useful in increasing your technorati authority. You can think of many other tricks just like this one, like creating a widget with a link of your blog. So the more bloggers use that widget in their blog the more backlinks you get.
5. Be the first to blog about a new website or ebook or any type of e-product, this will attract other bloggers to link to your review if they also write about it after you.
6. You can also run contests or any newsworthy event on your blog. But try to make it unique, not just another contest just like what we see on most of the blogs nowadays.
7. Publish an interview of a famous person on your blog. ( or something like Shoemoney and Problogger Face Off as in Dailyblogtips.com).

Today’s post is about domain flipping and domain parking business. For many days I have just been blogging about entrecard, dofollow, templates, etc. So today I thought of writing on something different. Domain flipping is all about buying new domains for as low as $6 from domain companies and then selling them for hundreds or even thousands of dollars as a premium domain. Contests are on in whole of the blogosphere nowadays. There are contests with giveaways of 1000s of Entrecard credits, sitewide advertisements, text links and hundreds or even thousands of dollars on many blogs. And as a contestant who doesn’t want such great prizes worth thousands of dollars. However as blogger who is hosting a contest, you must know how you can attract your blog visitors to participate in your contests. So today I will tell you what type of contests I would be interested in, to participate. This will give you an idea on how to host a contest so that you can attract more contestants and have a successful contest.

• The contest should be easy and attractive. How? I’ll tell you. The entry for participation in the contest should be easy. Like you can let your visitors enter in to the contest just by digging or stumbling your posts or something like that; or by commenting on your posts. Something easy and not time consuming will attract contestants.
• Don’t force contestants to write about your contest on their blogs. Many of your visitors will not even enter after seeing way more points being given to contestants who blog about that contest and that’s because it takes some time to write an article.
• If you are an entrecarder you may want to offer entrecard credits as the prizes. Why should you offer EC? Because EC are cheap. So you can buy 1000 EC for <$10. So if you offer 1000 EC you will attract more contestants than when you offer $50 cash.
• Try to have some point system for choosing the winners; Like 3 points for commenting –> 1 point for stumbling and so on. Don’t use random system, through which a winner is chosen randomly. I never like contests where there is random system.
• If you are planning to give prizes in objects and not money or EC then you should set something interesting as your prize. Things like Ipods, XBox, and laptops work very well. You know things like those attract average peple(including me).

Alexa is company that gives all the websites a type of ranking that shows how popular the particular website is. This alexa traffic rank is based on the number of alexa toolbar users who visit that website. So clearly it shows that alexa traffic rank is not the best way to estimate a website’s traffic (rank). Why so? If we consider a blogging or webmaster related site, then there is a lot of chance that most of the readers of that website use alexa toolbar. I am sure most of you are having alexa toolbar installed on your browser. But if we consider a personnel blog, then the readers of that blog might not have the toolbar installed. So this will affect the alexa ranking of that blog.
But, then why should you ever try to increase your alexa?

Because it is something that will attract many advertisers to your site. Many advertisers consider alexa ranking for advertising on a blog. Many ad networks also consider alexa ranking when estimating a site’s capabilities. Not only this but, if you have a good alexa ranking then this will certainly impress your readers. So here are the easy steps I take to increase alexa ranking of my sites.

1. First of all, if you use firefox, you must install a good addon so that you can find your alexa ranking anytime. A good addon can be Search Status that not only tells you the alexa ranking but also the page rank of the site(page). Or else if you use I.E then install alexa toolbar.
2. If you have completed the first step you can set your blog as the home page of your browser.
3. Next, if there is any cyber cafe near, just make the administrator set the homepage of all the computers’ browsers as your blog. Or you could do this in your office. The concept is you have to set your blog as the homepage in as many computers as possible.
4. Increase traffic to your blog. That is what alexa is all about. So anywhere you respond to the articles, like in forums or blogs, just place the URL of any related article from your blog there in the comments. This will you will attract many visitors since your article is related to the article they are already reading. They will surely want to gain some extra knowledge.
5. Show off your alexa ranking on your blog through the alexa rank widget.
6. Through your blog suggest your readers to install the alexa toolbar. Doing this can surely increase your ranking because these readers will come again and again to your site. So if they have alexa toolbar your ranking will only go up.
7. Also do write about alexa on your site, even I am doing this right now.
8. Another way is using alexa autosurf programs. I do not recommend them but many webmasters say it works so you can just give it a try. But don’t forget I don’t recommend this.
