The fact that, ‘You Need Money to Make Money’, doesn’t prove to be true any more. In fact, nowadays, in order to become rich (or even a billionaire), one doesn’t even need to have a lot of experience. It’s all just a matter of smartness and confidence if one wants to become another Nouveau Riche(French, ‘new rich’).
The number of billionaires (as listed in Forbes List) has increased from around 800 in 2007 to 1100 in 2008. Many of these Nouveau Riche are self made billionaires who have earned that much wealth without inheriting any property from their relatives. Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin, Larry Page and Sameer Gahalaut are some of the youngest self made billionaires. All of them started their businesses with very small amounts of investments and now they are Owners and CEOs of some largest Internet Companies of the world.
Mark Zuckerberg, one of the most talked about Nouveau Riche in Forbes List 2008, is a 23 year old Harvard dropout. He belongs to a Jewish-American family and was raised in Dobbs Ferry, New York. He started Facebook, an online social networking site, from his Harvard Dorm room on Feb 15, 2004. It was a huge success when it was launched in Harvard and 450 other schools including Stanford, Columbia and Yale. Then it quickly spread across the world making Mark Zuckerberg the youngest ever self made billionaire and the youngest ever CEO.
Sameer Gahalaut, a 34 year old Indian, started his business in a very small office with just 2 computers and some friends. He started Indiabulls, an Online Brokerage firm, in 2000 which has now become a huge $5 billion company with interests including real estate, mortgages, consumer finance and retail. Sameer Gahalaut is now known to be the youngest self made billionaire of India.
You must have heard who Sergey Brin and Larry Page are. Both of them dropped out from Stanford University to create an internet search engine we all know, Google. They started Google in 1998 in a friend’s garage. Now Google has become a $180 billion Internet giant making both of them worth $18 billion each.
All this proves that success and wealth has no age. Nor is it necessary that you invest a huge amount to become rich. A smart young person with ambition, planning and confidence can build his own share of wealth without any capital.
